Abstract

This is a conceptual paper concentrating on rural development through common service centres in the context of various theories of technology diffusion. The paper is based on the idea that democratization of knowledge and information is the key to public welfare across geographical, racial, religious, cultural, economic, and gender differences. From this objective, the paper looks into technology intervention models, institutional frameworks and critical success factors for enabling effective and efficient delivery of various services to the rural poor in an effort to make them a part of the mainstream of the knowledge economy.
