This paper presents the development of a vehicle number plate detection system that is capable of detecting a number plate and extracting the characters from the number plate. The approach is to build a predictive system to predict the position of number plate in an image, and hence, extract the characters from the number plate. The aim here is to predict the position of number plate efficiently in an image and extract characters form the number plate in minimum time.
