Special Issue Call - Computer Aided Soft Computing Techniques for Imaging and Biomedical Application

Guest Editors:
D.JUDE HEMANTH, J.ANITHA
Call for Papers: Submission Closed

The applications of computers in the biomedical field are becoming increasingly important in the current scenario. Computers aid in developing a fully automated system which would help in accurate identification of abnormalities in the medical field. The accuracy of the computer aided systems is highly superior to the manual observations and hence automated systems are significantly preferred by the physicians. Most of the automated systems are based on soft computing techniques which includes Artificial neural networks, fuzzy theory, evolutionary algorithms, Artificial intelligence techniques, etc. Besides improving the accuracy, these techniques also yield superior convergence rate. Since these are “soft” techniques, these techniques fall under the primary category of computer applications. Even though more techniques are available, the applicability of these techniques in the medical field is not fully explored. In the medical field, there is always a significant necessity for automated techniques which yield high accuracy and convergence rate. This special issue is an ideal platform for the researchers to come out with innovative ideas and approaches in the area of biomedical soft computing. This issue gains much importance since it directly impacts the healthcare field of the society. This issue is devoted to the soft computing techniques for all possible applications are the biomedical field.

The topics of this issue include but are not limited to:

  • Artificial neural networks for abnormality detection in scan images such as brain, eye, lungs, blood, bone, etc.
  • Fuzzy theory for abnormal region segmentation in scan images
  • Medical Image denoising, noise removal, etc.
  • Medical image texture analysis
  • Medical image processing using evolutionary algorithms such as GA, PSO, ACO, etc.
  • Biomedical signal processing
  • Noise cancellation in EEG, ECG, MG, etc. signals
  • Watermarking in medical images using soft computing techniques
  • Medical image fusion techniques
  • Medical image registration methodologies
  • Image retrival techniques
  • Equalization methodologies in 1-D signals
  • Hybrid approaches
  • Any other area which deals with biomedical applications using soft computing techniques

Paper Template:

Publication of any articles/ manuscript in International Journal of Computer Applications requires strict conformance to the paper template. However, initial submission of an article or manuscript for review need not be compliant with the template.

Once the special issue paper is accepted, the authors will be asked to submit the camera-ready paper by the guest editors. The camera-ready paper is the final version of the article/ manuscript that will be published in the International Journal of Computer Applications Digital Library. While submitting the camera-ready, the authors must take extreme care so that the paper strictly conform with the prescribed template of International Journal of Computer Applications. The camera-ready paper template can be downloaded from this link.

Copyright Transfer

Once any manuscript is accepted for publication in International Journal of Computer Applications, the authors must submit the copyright transfer document to IJCA. The copyright form is available from this link.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that nothing in their papers infringes any existing copyright. If previously copyrighted material is included, authors must provide evidence that the copyright holder has given permission for its use. A provision for the same is available in the IJCA Copyright transfer document. The authors are requested to verify the manuscripts before submission to curtail any future infringement claims.
